Tuesday Tea: Error143 & Na Daoine Maithe

Good afternoon my honeybugs!

We’ve returned with another Teatime Tuesday (it’s Friday I know shhh!) post where I share with you all the juicy news that is transpiring around the amare/otome world so far and while we’ve a lot of big titles coming out in the next year I usually mention them last or when its closer to the month. The Otome Calender and other great content creators already cover the details so instead, I’ve decided to share news focusing on upcoming amare titles that are releasing on Kickstarter or that have already been funded but have new developments.

Will it include the latest community gossip? Yes and no. Like the previous TT post I made, there can and will be unfortunate snags that occur in the game or sometimes involve us as well, but our community is still relatively small so we’re not always able to rely on media to inform us. That’s where I come in! Arguments and speculative posts won’t be covered though. It’s not that I don’t enjoy a little spice in my piping hot tea, it’s just that I’ve zero desire to get anymore grey hairs worrying about day old arguments that started from a vague post. We’ve a lot more important things to focus on…

Like daydreamy hackers and devious fairies~

With that disclaimer out of the way, let’s shimmy into the juicy stuff!

ERROR143

Released only a few weeks ago, this game has already impressed the community enough to skyrocket in popularity: I’m talking fanart, Spotify playlists, fanfiction, and a Discord server with over 2,000 members. Who’s to blame for all of this? “WELCOME TO THE MICAH YUJIN EXPERIENCE!”

Against your better reasoning, you video call Micah. Your heart is pounding, electricity tingles in your veins, and prickles your skin with adrenaline-line regret. You realize a second too late that maybe you shouldn’t have done this, but he already picks up before the first ring ends.

Micah scrunches his face, blearily blinking at you whilst rubbing the street from his eyes and your heart picks up. He answered even though it was late. “What’s up, loser?” He tries to hold back a yawn, a testament to his exhaustion. But he still picked up anyway…

“Why are you calling me at 3 AM? Shouldn’t you be sleeping like the angel you are?” He offers a lazy smirk with his words, “don’t tell me you miss me.”excerpt from official page: https://jennyvipham.itch.io/error143

ERROR143 is a romantic visual novel starring you, an experienced hacker, who gets caught after breaking into someone else’s computer by computer’s adorkable owner, Micah. You think the story is over before it begins because.. any sane person would report you to the police, right? Turns out Micah has other plans as he throws you headfirst into flirty challenges and random games that take place in between online chatrooms and video calls; what’s his motive? Is he trying to get to know you or gather more evidence?

I’ll confess right now that I’ve not played it from beginning to end yet because the desire to stream this game grew too strong but from what I’ve seen so far, it’s tons of fun. The artwork is gorgeous and every color used brings the atmosphere to life, like you’re really in a dark room staring at a glowing computer. Scrumptious voice acting supported by a great soundtrack; the music feels like a mix of 00’s, current with a dash of spicy tango that somehow follows the personality of our main LI himself: Micah Yujin.

First impressions? Stupid handsome (those FANGS ya’ll ugh), upbeat, talkative, flirty, and very silly. I’m talking supreme clown vibes! And because of that he’s definitely that pretty face who never takes anything seriously and at times may come across as a little immature but I’m willing to bet there’s something more beneath that goofy smile so, as an older player, I’m going into this with wary confidence.

The game is completely voice acted and Micah’s VA (@WilderCorey) does a fantastic job in bringing him to life. His playful hums, silly banter, that cackle of a laugh – it’s easy to get sucked into his world and never want to leave because not only is he charming but surprisingly sincere. He’s the kind of guy who’d tease you relentlessly but then uppercut you with an unexpected compliment and win you over with a charming smile so that it’s impossible to stay mad at him for long. Someone who pushes the envelope just enough to entice a bit of spicy, playful tension between the two of you and that’s the best formula to brew when you’re presenting this VN as a ‘rivals to lovers’ story.

And while this story is released already, Micah’s creator Jenny is asking us for help to bring this game into a full-fledged story by adding upcoming DLC, juicy NSFW scenes, and FINALLY LETTING US PET SKRUNKLY!

Right now we’ve 16 days to go with maybe a 1/3 of the goal met so to make sure we’re able to drive off into the sunset with our favorite boy and his angelic furbaby, we need to dig deep in these pockets and throw Jenny all of our money. Please consider supporting if you can by either donating to the cause or sharing the Kickstarter link:

The Good People

Can ya’ll read this yet? Okay good, that means my Anti-Micah software worked and I can talk about this next title! A visual novel that was recommended by our darling devs at Crescence Studio (@CrescenceStudio) after I whimsically wished in a tweet that we were supplied a fae-themed visual novel. Blame Critical Role, blame my huge stack of fairytales but somehow my wish came true! Was it simply luck or am I being observed by the mischievous and otherworldly?

You lose sight of the thief but come to a clearing with a lake that bubbles and froths. The water is strange, vibrant red, and on all sides of the lake are jagged tooth-like stones. It perplexes you, distracts you — draws you in close.

You feel a push from behind and lose your balance, plunging you deep into the water. It is warm, but not hot. You struggle for a moment, but soon find the air again and scramble ashore.

When you look up, you’re not in Ireland anymore.

Now trapped inside the world of Tír na nÓg, home to the descendants of the Old Gods, a legendary people of a thousand names—

Tuatha Dé Danann. Children of Danu.

Aes Sídhe. The Fairies.

Na Daoine Maithe. The Good People.

—you soon find yourself in the midst of a centuries-old conflict, a battle of blood against blood. Two courts, six lives entangled; can you find your stolen belongings and make your way home again? Or will you be lost inside this strange, war-torn country forever? Makes allies who will help you uncover the secrets of this land’s storied past — or perhaps even your own — but act fast. Time is strange here; you never know when it will run out. – excerpt from official website https://moiraimyths.com/tgp

The fae holds a special place in my heart and has been since my eyes could read so finding this studio that was willing to develop this wonderful game for us made me dive headfirst into the story. The fearsome dullahans, helpful brownies, territorial dryads – all of them spoke to me as a child because of my upbringing in an Irish-Scot home, where my grandparents used to share stories about the tricksy adventures and fearsome battles of the Good People. I remember climbing these big, old trees in my backyard just to find the perfect spot to read these fairytales for hours upon hours, eating apples and pretending that maybe one day they’d take me away so that I could join them…

Please whisk me away from adult responsibilities!

I’m giving full marks for them including both fae courts – the Unseelie and Seelie. Most popular media only mention the term fairies but never go into depth about their community, they default to the common trope which is the atypical playful, mischievous and magical creature who sometimes grants fortune or bad luck with fluttering wings. But this barely scratches the surface as legend tells of the vast fae world that hosts kingdoms, politics and flourishing community. Each court has its own fae-kind that swear loyalty to their respective season so, with this game, I’m wondering just how far down the rabbit hole we’re going to explore…

The good news is we may get the answer to this question in just four days!

The bad news is … we gotta wait four more days.

MoiraiMyths (@MoiraiMyths) announced the release of their demo where we are promised to meet a few of their lovable characters in a three-hour session! But if you’re not the kind of person who wants to spoil themselves too soon, you’re able to watch the first chapter of this demo on YouTube.

For our love interests, our dear developer has blessed us with six gorgeous fae to choose from, each belonging to their respected court.

Shae: Guard to the Seelie Court.
Kaegan: The mysterious confidant to the Queen.
Aife: The crowned queen of the Seelie Court.

Maeve: Protector of the Unseelie Court.
Flannán: The newly crowned king of the Unseelie Court.
Robin: A curious, shapeshifting being who lingers for some strange purpose.

The amount of detail used for these characters only shows just how passionate MM is about their novel and I’m excited to meet each and every one of them. This already promises insane replay value, especially if we’re to encounter bad/normal/good ends! So please consider giving your undying attention and support to them by wishlisting them on Steam and following their socials and website: https://moiraimyths.com/tgp

And thaaaat’s the conclusion of Tuesday Teatime for this week!

SIKE.

My original plan was to post every morsel from games I’ve kickstarted or seen still under development but soon realized there’s a lot of things I wanted to discuss about each game and my brain was turning into applesauce trying to edit it all, so I’ve decided to break this into two parts! It’s a learning curve so while it’s doubtful this will happen again, I’m also wanting to make sure these games get their proper attention due to the timelines of their development/releases. My second half will be posted by Tuesday like its meant to and hopefully you guys will join me then when I go further into detail about other games needing support on Kickstarter, including those who have already met their goals and slowly updating as we (im)patiently await their finished product with bated breath.

Until then, behave and drink your gosh dang water. It’s hot outside.
Sailor Otome~
